Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the unfair blame placed on developing countries for global carbon emissions while speaking at an international conference in New Delhi. He highlighted that India’s per capita carbon emissions are less than half of the global average, underscoring the nation’s commitment to renewable energy.
Addressing the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics,” organized by the National Green Tribunal on September 19 and 20, Modi noted India’s proactive steps in meeting its Paris Agreement climate commitments ahead of schedule. He detailed the country’s advancements in non-fossil fuel capacity and solar energy as significant elements of India’s environmental strategy.
The two-day event gathered judges, government officials, environmental experts, and legal representatives from various countries to discuss pressing environmental and climate issues. The agenda included addressing gaps in policy implementation, promoting environmental justice, and enhancing cooperation among institutions.
Throughout the conference, four technical sessions were dedicated to exploring key environmental concerns and formulating strategies for future climate challenges. Modi’s remarks aimed to highlight India’s role and achievements in global environmental efforts, setting a precedent for other developing nations.
