Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has assumed the role of India’s Education Minister, marking the beginning of his tenure by reviewing significant education initiatives and the rollout of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Taking office at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi, Joshi engaged with senior officials from the Departments of School Education and Higher Education to gain insights into the ministry’s ongoing projects.
Joshi, acknowledging education as a new domain for him, expressed that he would need some time to fully grasp the intricacies of his new responsibilities before making detailed statements. He emphasized the importance of understanding the ministry’s operations thoroughly to ensure the effective continuation of major education programs.
The responsibility was entrusted to Joshi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the acceptance of the resignation of the former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by President Droupadi Murmu. Joshi stated his commitment to maintaining the momentum of existing initiatives while delving into the department’s functions.
