Delhi Launches ₹13,800 Crore Infrastructure and Welfare Initiative

Date:

The Delhi government is set to roll out a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative named Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17, according to an announcement by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This month-long campaign is designed to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service and will see the launch and commencement of projects totaling approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the capital.

Key features of the campaign include blood donation camps, health check-ups for senior citizens, and efforts to enhance sanitation and clean the Yamuna River. Registration camps for various government welfare schemes will be available across all 70 assembly constituencies. A significant blood donation drive is scheduled for September 17, with the goal of collecting 2,500 units, alongside initiatives to promote organ donation and health services for the elderly.

During this campaign, projects valued at around ₹8,000 crore related to the Yamuna will be initiated. Additionally, the government plans to recognize the contributions of over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers. The initiative will also involve educational programs for students and young individuals in nearly 5,000 schools, including painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for a more developed India.

Among the slated projects, the Delhi Jal Board will see work valued at ₹8,000 crore, while the Public Works Department is set to undertake projects worth ₹2,800 crore. Additional initiatives include ₹1,500 crore in the power sector, ₹365 crore in irrigation and flood-control efforts, and ₹77 crore dedicated to tourism projects.
