Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate from Kanpur, and her father, former soldier Rakesh Singh, have initiated a protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in Delhi. This action follows the agency’s rejection of claims that Arya’s examination results were tampered with. The protest arises after the NTA released a statement dismissing allegations from several candidates who claimed discrepancies between their results and their OMR answer sheets. The agency asserted that images circulating online were fabricated or digitally altered, and did not match the official records.
Arya Singh alleges that her NEET-UG 2026 re-exam score was altered after the announcement of results. She states her score initially showed 570 marks but was later reduced to 167. Arya contends that the OMR sheet provided by the NTA contained several errors, such as a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After she raised these issues, Arya claims the agency sent her another OMR sheet reflecting a different score of 609 marks.
Her father, Rakesh Singh, expressed their dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanation and confirmed that they would continue their protest until they receive satisfactory answers. He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter and take action against what he described as irregularities in the examination process.
The NTA, however, has denied these allegations, emphasizing that all original OMR sheets correspond accurately with the declared scores. They stated that official examination documents are secure, containing identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes to ensure authenticity.
This controversy is part of a broader issue tied to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, which took place on June 21 after the initial exam in May was canceled due to a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the case to address these concerns.
