Trump’s Twin Conversations with Putin: One on War, One on Weapons

Date:

President Donald Trump has detailed two distinct conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin: one focused on ending a war, the other on reducing the weapons for the next one.
The first, a recent phone call, centered on the Ukraine crisis. It followed Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky on August 18 and focused on a security framework where Europe would lead and the U.S. would act as “backup.”
The second conversation, revealed by Trump, took place in Alaska on August 15. This was a more strategic dialogue about the future, where the two leaders discussed the possibility of reducing their nuclear arsenals once the war in Ukraine is over.
This dual engagement highlights a complex diplomatic strategy, attempting to find a resolution to the current conflict while also laying the groundwork for future global stability.
