Swedish tech company Opsio has introduced PrismIQ, an innovative automated visual inspection service aimed at helping manufacturers swiftly detect production defects. Launched initially in India, this service uses advanced technology to identify issues like surface defects, cracks, and assembly errors in real-time on production lines. The system integrates industrial cameras with deep-learning models tailored to each manufacturer’s products, ensuring efficient and accurate quality control.
PrismIQ operates on edge hardware directly installed on production lines, allowing it to deliver quick inspection results without relying exclusively on manual checks. This technology can seamlessly connect with existing PLC and SCADA infrastructure, facilitating automated sorting and decision-making processes. Opsio’s platform is designed to overcome the limitations of manual inspections, particularly on high-speed manufacturing lines where it is challenging to check every product. Its active-learning system continuously refines detection models using production data, enhancing its accuracy over time.
Unlike typical standalone vision software, PrismIQ is offered as a comprehensive end-to-end service. Opsio manages all aspects, from camera, lens, and lighting setup to model development, factory integration, and ongoing operation. The service includes operator training, quality monitoring dashboards, and regular performance evaluations. According to Opsio, a standard implementation of PrismIQ can move from feasibility assessment to production deployment within eight to 12 weeks.
India’s selection for the initial commercial launch is attributed to its rapidly expanding manufacturing sector and Opsio’s established presence in the country. The company operates an AI Lab in Bengaluru, which focuses on developing and testing artificial intelligence solutions for industrial applications. PrismIQ is currently available to manufacturers in sectors such as automotive, electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals, with customer engagements beginning with a feasibility study using the manufacturer’s sample products.
